Dream cookies, Drömmar in Swedish, are crisp and delicate treats for any occasion. Baker’s ammonia and rapeseed oil give them their dreamy, crispy texture. Typical Swedish småkaka served during fika. Pairs well with coffee, tea, lemonade or a glass of milk. #Swedish #Fika

Ingredients

  • 50 g butter or margarine (butter is preferred)
  • 1.5 dl granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 0.5 dl cooking or rapeseed oil (as long as it’s flavorless)
  • 0.5 tsp baker's ammonia (a type of salt that makes them rise)
  • 2 dl wheat flour (2 dl equals approximately 120 g)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 150°C (302°F).
  • Mix butter, sugar, and vanilla sugar until smooth.
  • Gradually add the oil while stirring.
  • Combine the baker's ammonia with a little of the flour, then stir it into the dough.
  • Work in the rest of the flour.
  • Roll the dough into small balls.
  • Place them on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake in the middle of the oven for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet.
