Terms of Use

Last updated 18 September 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Ambi Studio AB, company registration number 559148-7458, Oxelösund, Sweden (“Ambre”, “we”, “us”). They apply when you use the Ambre apps, the Ambre web app and ambre.app (together, “Ambre”). By using Ambre you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Ambre.

How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.

Your account

You can use Ambre with an account tied to your email address, or without one. Signing in is done with a one-time code sent to your email, so keep access to that mailbox secure — anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Recipes saved without an account live in an anonymous account on the device you created it on. If you lose access to that device, we may not be able to recover them. Adding an email address keeps the same library.

Ambre is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 18, use Ambre with the permission of a parent or guardian.

Ambre+ subscriptions

Ambre is free to download. Ambre+ is an optional subscription that unlocks additional features, sold as monthly or yearly plans through Apple’s App Store.

  • Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The price is shown before you buy, in your local currency and including applicable taxes.
  • Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Free trials. If you are offered a free trial, the app shows the date it ends and the price you’ll be charged afterwards. Cancel before that date and you won’t be charged.
  • Cancelling. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Deleting the app or your Ambre account does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its terms; request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Changes. We may change prices or what Ambre+ includes. Price changes for existing subscribers are communicated in advance through Apple and never apply to a period you’ve already paid for.

Nothing in this section limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law, including any right of withdrawal.

Your content

Your recipes, photos, recordings, meal plans and collections (“your content”) belong to you. We claim no ownership of them.

So that Ambre can work, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, transmit, process and display your content — only as needed to provide Ambre to you and to the people you share with. That includes sending content to the service providers described in the Privacy Policy when you use a feature that needs them. The licence ends when your content or your account is deleted, except for copies other people have already saved through your sharing.

You are responsible for your content and for having the right to save and share it. In particular:

  • Imported recipes. Ambre lets you save recipes from websites, books, videos and social media for your own use. The text and photos of those recipes may be protected by copyright. Only share an imported recipe with others or publicly if you have the right to do so.
  • Backups. We work hard to keep your library safe, but please keep copies of recipes you can’t afford to lose.

Sharing, circles and public links

  • Shared meal plans. Everyone in a shared meal plan can add, edit and remove recipes in it. Only the owner can delete the plan, and if the owner deletes it — or deletes their account — the plan is removed for everyone.
  • Your circle. People in your circle can see all of your collections, your profile and your taste palette. Joining a circle is the decision to share these things; remove someone from your circle to stop.
  • Public recipe links. Anyone who has the link can view the recipe, and they can pass the link on. Treat a shared link as public.
  • Invite links let whoever opens them join, so send them only to people you intend to invite.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Ambre to:

  • store or share anything illegal, infringing, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or that invades someone else’s privacy;
  • harass other people, or send unwanted invitations;
  • probe, overload, scrape or disrupt the service, get around usage limits, or access it by means other than the apps and interfaces we provide;
  • resell Ambre or use our AI features as a general-purpose service for something other than your own cooking.

We may remove content that breaks these rules. To report content or a person, email [email protected] with the link or a description, and we’ll look into it promptly.

AI features

Ambre uses AI to read recipes from web pages, photos, audio and video, to translate recipes, to recognise dishes, and to suggest recipes and collections.

AI makes mistakes. An imported or translated recipe can have wrong quantities, missing ingredients, wrong temperatures or times. Recommendations take your stated diets and allergies into account, but they are not a guarantee that a recipe is safe for you. Always check ingredients, allergens and cooking instructions yourself — especially if you cook for someone with an allergy or a medical condition. Ambre does not give medical, nutritional or food-safety advice.

AI features are subject to fair-use limits, which we may adjust, and some may require Ambre+. We may change the AI providers and models we use.

Third-party services and websites

Ambre links to and imports from websites we don’t control, and relies on services from Apple and others. We aren’t responsible for third-party websites or their content. Your use of Apple’s services is governed by Apple’s terms.

Our rights in Ambre

The Ambre apps, website, name, logo and design belong to Ambi Studio AB and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the apps on devices you own or control, as permitted by these terms and the App Store’s usage rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or redistribute the apps, except where the law allows it regardless of this clause.

Changes and availability

We develop Ambre continuously and may add, change or remove features. We aim for Ambre to be available at all times but don’t promise uninterrupted service; maintenance, faults at our providers, or events outside our control can cause outages. If we ever shut Ambre down, we will give you reasonable notice so that you can export your recipes first.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Ambre at any time and delete your account in the app (Profile → Edit Profile → Delete Account). Deletion is completed after 90 days, during which you can change your mind by signing in; email us if you want your account deleted immediately instead. Remember to cancel any subscription with Apple separately.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must do so by law, or if your use harms the service or other people. Where reasonable we’ll warn you first and give you a chance to export your recipes.

Disclaimers and liability

Ambre is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties beyond those stated in these terms — in particular about the accuracy of recipes, AI output, or content from other users or websites.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or loss caused by your reliance on recipe content or AI output, and our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of what you paid for Ambre+ in that period and EUR 50.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be limited by law — such as for intent or gross negligence, or for personal injury — or the rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country where you live.

Apple

If you got Ambre from the App Store: these terms are between you and Ambi Studio AB, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Ambre or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for addressing claims relating to it, including product-liability, legal-compliance, consumer-protection or intellectual-property claims. If Ambre fails to conform to a warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When changes are material we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect, unless the change is required sooner by law. If you keep using Ambre after the changes take effect, you accept them; if you don’t agree, you can delete your account.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Swedish law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts. Otherwise, disputes are settled by the Swedish courts, with Stockholm District Court as the court of first instance.

We’d much rather solve a problem directly — write to us first. Consumers in Sweden can also turn to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (arn.se).
